Transgender community protests against murder, delay in treatment of eunuch

PESHAWAR: The transgender community on Monday held a protest demonstration against the murder of a eunuch in Karak and the delay in treatment of another who was injured in the firing.

Transgenders belonging to Peshawar, Kohat, Swabi and Mardan were part of the protest that took place outside Peshawar Press Club (PPC).

The protestors demanded of the provincial government to take notice of cruelties against transgenders across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and direct strict action against the culprits.

Speaking on the occasion, KP Shemale Association President Farzana said that the provincial police had announced to form a committee that would provide protection to the transgender community but it had done nothing in this connection so far.

She warned to continue the protest outside the provincial assembly if their demands were not fulfilled.
