PM adds organiser of Kaka, Figo event to special task force on sports

Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered to add TouchSky Group (TSG) CEO Ahmer Kunwar to the special task force on sports in order to promote football in the country.

Kunwar will now be a part of the task force which is headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani.

The two met “to discuss a long-term plan of strengthening football as a sport in the country,”, according to an official statement. They were accompanied by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.

PM Imran said, “In order to provide opportunities to our youth to showcase their talent and bring out Pakistan’s football potential we need to have on ground facilities to develop the sport in the country.”

Meanwhile, Kunwar stressed the need for representation of Pakistan football players on an international platform.

Earlier this month, the TSG brought football legends Kaka and Figo to Pakistan to introduce the April event of World Soccer Stars. The two legends had travelled to Karachi and then Lahore to promote the upcoming event, where they interacted with fans and media.

Afridi, on the other hand, briefed the premier about an upcoming football league under the banner of Peshawar Zalmi.

They also discussed measures to promote sports in the country.

The prime minister called for providing the best possible sports facilities to our youth to promote their constructive abilities and grooming the available talent.

He said a task force has already been constituted to boost sports activities in the country and its recommendations would help bring necessary reforms in the sports sphere.

Afridi assured PM Imran of all-out cooperation to promote sports.

The premier appreciated Afridi and Peshawar Zalmi for promoting sporting activities in the country.
