Army to return shops destroyed in Zarb-e-Azb to rightful owners, DG ISPR says

MIRAN SHAH: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Asif Ghafoor on Monday assured the locals of North Waziristan regarding the handing over of shops that had been destroyed during operation Zarb-e-Azb.

The DG ISPR was on a visit to Miran Shah and Ghulam Khan Border Terminal where he mingled with the locals and listened to their issues.

The locals apprised the DG ISPR that their shops, which were destroyed during the operation, were to be handed over to them after reconstruction; however, they were being assigned new ownership to people whom the shops do not belong to through a “fake database”.

The Pakistan Army spokesperson, who was accompanied by national and international media personnel, promised the agitated locals that all the shops would be handed back to their “rightful owners” in the near future.  “You will have the shops before my next visit,” he assured.

In response to the locals’ concern about the release and implementation of a fake database, the DG ISPR asked them if there had been any progress on the matter from the time that they had visited Islamabad for its resolution to which the locals said yes.

“This is why you, the local administration and owners have been included and lists will be scrutinised to make sure that those who have made fake claims are not given the stores and only rightful owners are,” the DG ISPR said.
