BEIJING: A video of an elderly Chinese man, swimming in a bone-chilling lake, is doing rounds on the social media. In the video, the person can be seen swimming in a lake which has a temperature as low as -10 degrees Celcius.

In the same video, the 66-year-old Zhang Shenglan, who is also an ice-diver, can be heard saying that “it [icy plunge] lets your blood circulate thence good for the body”.
Hu Xeuwei, also an ice swimmer, said that: “I was a bit afraid when it was really cold at the beginning. But I got used to it slowly.”
The freezing plunge has become a tradition in most parts of the Chinese capital as particularly the senior citizens believe that it keeps certain ills away from them.
