LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday said that record public-interest legislation would be passed by the Punjab Assembly while parliamentarians belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allied parties would collectively work for the welfare of the masses.
“Assembly members are my companions and we are united in the journey of public service. It is satisfying that the parliamentarians have fully participated in the assembly proceedings and made the party successful at every occasion,” the chief minister said while addressing a meeting.
He said that his doors were always open for the assembly members and they were continuously striving for the development and prosperity of the people. “We will continue to do so in the future as well.”
Buzdar said that achievements of different targets set under the 100-day agenda would have to be ensured as it was the time to deliver. “Though faults of 30 years cannot be rectified within a few months, we are introducing multifarious reforms to improve the overall system,” he added.
The chief minister further said that provincial ministers would have to further improve their performance and those who would deliver would earn respect while others would be held answerable.
“My ministers are totally empowered. Power and authority are no longer confined to the Chief Minister’s Office now,” he said.
Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, on the occasion, said that bills were being tabled in the Punjab Assembly session for approval.
“An amendment is being made in rules of procedure with regard to issuance of production order as those who remained in power for ten long years did not think of this amendment. The credit for this amendment goes to the PTI government.”
It is praiseworthy, he added, that the incumbent chief minister and his team were going to introduce the historic amendment. “Other members will also be encouraged to table private bills and we will jointly serve the masses,” Basharat said.
Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, other provincial ministers and lawmakers of PTI as well as allied parties attended the meeting.
