Balochistan govt formulates JIT to probe Dr Khalil’s reported abduction

QUETTA: A joint investigation team (JIT) was formed by the Balochistan government on Sunday to probe the reported kidnapping of Dr Shiekh Ibrahim Khalil and submit a report in 15 days.

Representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Special branch, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and an investigation officer would be part of the team headed by the Quetta SSP investigation.

The reputed neurosurgeon was reportedly kidnapped while returning home from work last week with his car recovered from Shehbaz Town. Window panels on his car were also broken.

Bolan Medical Teachers Association (BMTA) and Young Doctors Association (YDA) condemned the incident with the former issuing a province-wide boycott call. Further, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), which also condemned the reported kidnapping incident, called an emergency meeting at Civil Hospital over the matter.
