LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday revealed the complete schedule of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in which it has been revealed that eight matches will be played in Pakistan.
The fourth edition of celebrated PSL will be played between Friday 14 and March 17 next year. The franchise-based T20 event will be spanned across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) including Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. The league, then, will move local for the last eight matches including the knock-outs.
Karachi’s famous National Stadium will host five matches, while Lahore will host three fixtures in its historical Gaddafi Stadium.
The matches, which will be played in Karachi, include Karachi Kings against Peshawar Zalmi on March 7, Karachi Kings vs Quetta Gladiators on March 10, Qualifier 1 vs Qualifier 2 on March 13, Eliminator 2 on March 15 and the final on March 17.
Lahore will host Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United on March 9, Lahore Qalandars vs the Sixth Team on March 10 and Eliminator 1 (3 v 4) on March 12 at Gaddafi stadium. All the three matches will be played under floodlights.
Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will take on each other in the opening game on February 14 in Dubai.
In addition to the matches scheduled to be played domestically, 14 matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, four at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and eight matches at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
“The PCB believes the HBL PSL is a gateway to resumption of international cricket in Pakistan,” the official press release said, adding that “by successfully staging eight matches in Lahore and Karachi with the support of the local authorities, the PCB is optimistic that it will once again prove to the world that Pakistan is as safe and secure a place as any other part of the world to play international cricket.”
The PSL 2019 final will be played in Karachi on March 17.
Meanwhile, the PCB has extended the deadline to bid for the Sixth Team of PSL by one additional day: from December 18 to December 19. According to the board, the submitted bids will be opened on December 20. It added that the deadline was extended to accommodate a large number of interested parties.
