Will wait for investigation before making comments on Quaidabad blast, says Sindh CM

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said he could not make comments on the target of the blast in Quaidabad on Friday which killed two and injured another 12 until an investigation into the matter is not finalised.

“12 people were injured in the blast of which 10 were provided medical treatment and discharged from the hospital while one is critical,” Shah informed media, while adding that he could not confirm the nature of the blast.

“Another explosive device was found from the area after the explosion and was defused,” he added.

“We are conducting an investigation into the matter and only when the investigation is complete will we know the intensity, nature and target of the blast. Thus, till investigation is complete we cannot say anything,” he elaborated.

The chief minister said that the provincial government had acquired land to establish a forensic lab.

“We are trying to build a lab in Sindh but in the meantime will seek help from other provinces.”

With regards to a question about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement on ‘U-turns’, the chief minister said that “I don’t know what the purpose of the statement was. He [PM Imran] has gone from U-turns to W-turns”.

A case was registered against unknown suspects on Saturday in the Counter-Terrorism Department’s police station in relation to blast.

According to reports, the case was registered against unknown culprits under the charges of terrorism, murder and attempted murder.
