TEHRAN: Iran’s defence minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami on Tuesday said foreign sanctions on Iran were blessing in disguise to help the country become self-sufficient and self-reliant.
“Sanctions on Iran is not new to us. Each time, I can say firmly, we have got more determined to stand on our own feet,” General Hatami said in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Following the sanctions, the minister said, various issues had been spotted and appropriate solutions were proposed.
“Given the plans drawn and the measures taken, we are inching toward being self-sufficient and self-reliant,” he said.
The Iranian defence minister said the country’s one hundred per cent domestic needs could be met by its young people.
