One labourer dead, 2 injured in Buner marble mine blast

BUNER: One labourer died while two others were injured due to a landslide caused by an explosion inside a marble mine here on Monday.

The district administration said that labourers working in a marble mine located in Bampokha area of tehsil Sawari of district Buner had lit fire to keep them warm.

The heat resulted in an explosion in the mine due to which big pieces of rocks fell over the labourers.

One labourer died while two others were injured in the incident. The body and injured were shifted to Daggar Hospital in a private vehicle due to the non-availability of an ambulance or rescue teams.

It is worth mentioning Buner district is famous for its marble industry. The marble extracted from these mines is supplied everywhere in Pakistan. People continue to work in mines without any safety measures.
