LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Lahore chapter recovered nearly Rs330 million from the Lahore residence of a former junior government officer on Friday, according to a statement issued by the bureau.
As per details, the anti-corruption watchdog carried out a raid at the house of a former grade-16 government official, located in Lahore’s EME society, after receiving a tip-off regarding the stash of money.
“Approximately Rs330m that had allegedly been hidden were recovered during the raid on the house,” the NAB statement said.

The NAB is currently keeping the suspect’s identity secret “so as not to impede the acquisition of additional evidence”.
According to the bureau, the mammoth amount recovered from the official’s residence includes Rs100m in Pakistani rupees, Rs170m in the form of prize bonds, and nearly Rs35m in the form of 11 foreign currencies.
In May 2016, a similar case had surfaced when the bureau recovered more than Rs730 million from the residence of former Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani, who was earlier arrested.
Raisani was accused of embezzling billions of rupees from local government development funds, NAB officials told media.
