The Water and Sanitation Commission formed under the Supreme Court’s order in Sindh is not pleased with the repeated absence of Changyi Kangjie Sanitation Engineering Company chairman and summoned him on October 25.
According to a local media report, the commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Amir Hani Muslim had summoned him regarding the fulfilment of the contract. Earlier, the commission was also unsatisfied with the working of the firm that was tasked with “disposal of garbage in South and East districts of Karachi”.
The chairperson was summoned following the submission of a progress report by the managing director of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB). Advocate Javed Qazi, who was representing the chairman said that he needed time to appear as he was “engaged in China in some matters” which were not known to his lawyer. After this, the commission summoned both the advocate and the chairman to appear before the court on October 25, failing to do so will have “consequences”, the commission stated.
