LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Additional Inspector General B A Nasir on Thursday said that personnel of the Anti-Riot Unit (ARU) were playing a significant role in maintaining the law and order situation in the city.
Addressing a ceremony arranged in the honour of ARU, he said that the unit always protected the public. “We are proud of their [ARU’s] performance within the last three months. We should perform our duties with full commitment, courage and honesty,” he added.
DIG (Operations) Shahzad Akbar, DIG (Security) Shoukat Abbas, SSP (Investigation) Malik Awais, SP (VVIP Security) Captain (r) Rana Tahir, SP (Headquarters) Atif Nazir, SP (Security) Muhammad Naveed, Iqbal Town SP Syed Ali, Model Town SP Ali Waseem, Sadar SP Moaaz Zafar, Cantt SP Asif Ameen, DSPs and a large number of officials of the ARU were also present other than Turkish police officials.
Lahore DIG (Operations) Shahzad Akbar, on the occasion, said that all credit for maintaining law and order situation during Muharram and elections went to ARU. “Turkish trainers have given the best professional training to ARU cops and we are planning to arrange such professional training for them in the future as well. They have defeated every enemy of the country with their professionalism,” he added.
DIG (Security) Shoukat Abbas said that establishment of the unit was vital in the current era. “They will play an important role in future as well,” he said.
CCPO Lahore, DIG (Operations) and DIG (Security) also distributed cash prizes and certificates among 110 cops for outstanding performance.
