Terrorists involved in Mastung, Shah Noorani shrine blasts arrested

QUETTA: Five terrorists involved in the Mastung and Shah Noorani shrine blasts were arrested by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) from the Kalat area in Balochistan on Monday.

On July 13, over 200 people including Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, brother of former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisani were martyred and more than a hundred wounded in a blast in the Darengarh area of Mastung in Balochistan.

In November 2016, an explosion at a remote Sufi Muslim shrine of Shah Noorani in Balochistan had killed 54 people and injured more than 100.

Further reports revealed that the attack was carried out by a burqa-clad suicide bomber who blew himself up at the place where the devotees were dancing. There were over 500 people coming from different parts of the country inside the shrine when the blast occurred.

On Monday, LEAs raided a compound after receiving an anonymous tip about the presence of suspected terrorists in the area. All five terrorists were subsequently arrested.

During the interrogation, terrorists revealed the name of their handler as Farooq Bangalzari, who operates from Afghanistan and sends suicide bombers into Pakistan.
