35 cases of dengue reported in Islamabad Capital Territory

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Interior Affairs Shehryar Afridi on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that about 35 cases of the dengue fever had been reported in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) till date.

Responding to a calling attention notice regarding the expected outbreak of the dengue fever in the capital territory, he said that during the last year about 103 cases of the dengue fever were reported in the capital. The state minister said that peak time of the dengue fever in the country was from October to mid of November.

After the mid of November, he said that the dengue fever start declining. “We have taken effective precautionary measures and Ministry of Health had been directed to stay vigilant to handle the dengue fever.” During the last many years, he said that steps taken by the federal and provincial governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to control the dengue fever were appreciable.

He urged parliamentarians to take issues seriously and highlight it in their respective areas. “I assured the people, we are vigilant and committed to deliver,” he said, adding that the government had also arranged spray in various areas of the federal capital with the objective to secure the areas. He said that the awareness campaign among the masses had also been launched.
