Politicians express grief over Kulsoom Nawaz’s demise 

Politicians belonging to different political parties and senior government office holders Tuesday expressed grief over the sad demise of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and issued messages in this regard.

Finance Minister Asad Umar and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said they were saddened to hear of Begum Kulsoom’s passing.

Qureshi said that he had instructed the Pakistani High Commission in London to facilitate the bereaved family in all possible ways.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser expressed his deep condolences at the passing of the Kulsoom Nawaz, saying that she worked for democracy in the country.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan said that he was deeply saddened to hear the news of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s passing. “May ALLAH rest her soul in peace and give enough strength to the family to cope with this huge loss,” he added.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed sadness over the passing of former first lady and said, “Begum Kulsoom was a brave woman who fought for democracy.”

“My sympathies are with the members of the bereaved family and I pray to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

Former president and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing away of the three-time first lady.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Raja Zafarul Haq expressed his support for the Sharif family and said that he was with them in this difficult time.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani sent his condolences as well. “May the departed soul have eternal peace,” he said.

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali said that his party stands with the Sharif family in this difficult time. He added that Begum Kulsoom Nawaz fought against the dictatorship.

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his cousin Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said Begum Kulsoom’s demise was a huge loss for the Sharif family.

Former member of the National Assembly Syed Ali Raza Abidi also took to Twitter to express his grief and wrote, “My condolences to the Sharif family on the sad demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.”

“May Allah grant her eternal paradise and give her loved ones the strength to cope with the tragic loss, Ameen. Expecting early bail on humanitarian grounds for Mian Nawaz Sharif, Maryam and Captain Safder,” he said.

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal also expressed his condolence on Twitter and wrote, “We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. Very Sad to hear about the demise of Kulsoom Nawaz Sahiba. May Allah rest her soul in peace and give her highest place in Jannah. My heartfelt condolences to all the family members.”

German Ambassador to Pakistan, Martin Kobler offered his heartfelt condolences to Kulsoom Nawaz’s family and friends. “May her soul rest in peace,” he tweeted.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew also offered his condolence on the death of Kulsoom Nawaz on Twitter and wrote, “My condolences, on behalf of everyone at the British High Commission, on the passing away today of Former First Lady of Pakistan, Begum #KulsoomNawaz. My thoughts are with her family and friends.”

Former MNA and PML-N leader Tehmina Daultana said that Kulsoom Nawaz was their leader and she was praying that the former first lady would recuperate.

Tehmina Daultana said that Kulsoom wasn’t only Nawaz’s wife, but she was quite active in the party too.
