ISLAMABAD: Around 13,731 security personnel of Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces (CAF) are currently deployed for the security of Chinese workers who are working on various projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Senate was told on Friday.

Keeping security concerns in view, some 9,229 personnel of Pakistan Army and 4,502 personnel of CAF are currently deployed for the purpose.

Personnel employed by CAF include 2,190 personnel of Punjab Rangers, 728 of Sindh Rangers, 843 of Frontier Corps (FC) and 730 personnel of Balochistan FC. Personnel employed by FC include persons from 42 tribes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Khusro Bakhtiar while answering a question from Senator Samina Saeed during the question-answer session said that the federal government was considering a special discussion in parliament regarding CPEC.
