A suspect in police custody over the murder of an eyewitness in journalist Wali Babar murder case was remanded by a court, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.
The suspect, identified as Faisal alias Shah Faisal was apprehended by officers of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) during a raid in Karachi on Friday. An illegal weapon was also recovered from his possession.
Faisal confessed before the court of killing Haider Ali, the only surviving witness in Babar’s murder. He claimed he was directed to do so by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) local leaders.
According to the investigating officer, Faisal was also wanted in a number of other cases, including extortion, murder, terrorism and targeted killings.
The officer sought Faisal’s physical remand till September 7 but the judge remanded him till August 28 and directed the officer to produce him before the court on the next date.
