Kareena Kapoor sets the Lakme Fashion Week ramp on fire

The Lakme Fashion Week winter-festive 2018 signed off with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan walking the ramp for designer Monisha Jaising’s latest collection, Shades of a Diva.

Kareena made head turns in a holographic off-shoulder gown from Jaising’s line, which saw a gamut of fabulous ensembles ranging from gowns with thigh-high slits, short dresses, cocktail dresses, sarees and jumpsuits.

The finale started with a bewitching performance by Cirque du Soleil, who gave fashion lovers a sneak-peek of their show Bazzar on the runway on Sunday evening. The performance saw dancers, acrobats, skaters, hula hoop specialists and cube manipulators, who set the stage for a power-packed show.

Kapoor Khan also launched her first make-up line with Lakme called Kareena Kapoor Khan by Lakme Absolute.

Jaising, whose collection comprised hues like pinks, blues, blacks, moss green, saw a heavy use of embellishments.
Talking about her “stunning” showstopper, Jaising said: “When you get a diva like her that I have to dress then obviously I am going to be inspired.”

The star, who sported her signature makeup look with kohl-rimmed eyes and nude lipstick, said walking down the runway this time was even more special for her.

“It is also because of the outfit. I for the felt like ‘yeah, okay! I’m the ultimate diva’. It is all because of Monisha. The touch of her adding glamour,” she added.

Actor Varun Dhawan also made a statement as he walked the ramp for designer Kunal Rawal in a light pink suit with black nail polish and kohl in his eyes.

“This is second time I walked for Kunal and for me this time was better. It felt bigger and grander,” Dhawan said.

Speaking ahead of his show, menswear fashion designer Rawal is happy to see the changing perspective of men towards fashion. He says that men are more aware of their personal style now.

“The scenario is very different from what it used to be about five years back. I believe in do what you know best, so I’ve always stuck to my guns when it comes to menswear,” he said. “I’m definitely going to do androgynous women’s wear in 2019 and have showed that in the past but that all stems from my love for menswear. The market has also changed since the time I started. Even then lots of people told me to venture into women’s wear because the market for menswear was not that big.

“But there has been an evolution in the market today,” added Rawal, who will be showcasing his collection titled Perspective. “It is a great time to be a part of the menswear fashion story in India,” he added.
