Police arrest SSP militant for facilitating Sehwan attackers

Karachi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant for allegedly facilitating the terrorists involved in 2017 blast at Lal Shehbaz Qalandar’s shrine in Sehwan city of Sindh, a private media outlet reported.

According to SSP West Rizwan, Sabir alias Doodhwala, belongs to banned Sipah-e-Sahab Pakistan (SSP) and was arrested from city’s Baldia Town area.

The suspected militant was taken into custody for providing accomodation to three terrorists who traveled to Sehwan in order to carry out the terrorist activity.

The suspect has said that he was not aware that militants staying in his house were planning a terrorist activity and was only ordered to let them stay at his house by a commander of the banned organisation.

The police official further claimed that arms and ammunition, including hand grenades, were recovered from the suspect’s custody, who also confessed killing four people.

Eighty-two people were killed and 383 others wounded when on February 16, 2017, a suicide bomber blew himself up at the packed-to-capacity courtyard of shrine of Hazrat Lal Shehbaz Qalandar.
