Girl jumps into river after failing to clear intermediate exams

CHITRAL: A girl committed suicide while a boy attempted to take his own life after failing to clear the intermediate examination, the results of which were announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, on Tuesday.

An 18-year-old girl jumped into the river in Rech village of Torkhow valley in upper Chitral. Her body was later retrieved from the water.

Meanwhile, a boy shot and injured himself over failure to clear the HSSC exams. He was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Chitral, from where he was referred to a hospital in Peshawar.

An inquiry into both the incidents has been initiated by the Chitral police.
