KARACHI: Former model and freelance journalist Quratulain Ali Khan, also known as Annie passed away in Karachi on Saturday morning.
The incident was confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Omer Shahid Hamid, who told a local news source that it was a case of apparent suicide.
He further informed that by the time the police reached the journalist’s apartment in Qasr-e-Zainab near Karachi Gymkhana, she was already dead and surrounded by burnt books.
“Her body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors confirmed she had died of suffocation (asphyxia),” the SSP said.
“Annie lived alone in her apartment,” he added.
Annie was a former model who ventured into journalism and documentary production. She was a contributor to Dawn, Herald, Slate, The Express Tribune, The Asia Society, and The Caravan.
