MUMBAI – After the overwhelming success in whitewashing an Indian criminal in the blockbuster Sanju, Bollywood director Rajkumar Hirani has already begun working on a follow-up biopic on a Pakistani criminal, in a bid to cash in on the other side of the border, The Dependent has reliably learnt.

The film whose script is ready, is being tentatively dubbed Ganju, insiders have confirmed, with the name not only rhyming with the biopic released last week, it also happens to be the nickname of the main character in the movie.

“With Ganju releasing after Sanju we will become the first to launch a biopic franchise, with rhyming sequels Panju, Manju, Chhaparganju, etc to follow suit,” a member of the production team told The Dependent.

Sources within the writing team have confirmed that the story is based on a Pakistani businessman, whose corrupt and looting ways jolt the country.

“But as with Sanju we’ll show that he has a wonderful heart and that the things that he did wrong – of which there were many – were necessitated by that heart, which, like Sanju, brought it close to the biggest mafia in Pakistan and then he eventually ended up going against the same gang,” a writer working on the script told The Dependent.

The writers have also revealed that since it’s a biopic and based on true events, the storyline is dynamic and will keep on updating itself till the day of release.

“In fact, as writers of the movie it’s we who actually can’t wait to see what happens next. A big chunk of the movie would be written at the end of this month,” another writer said.

“Because just like Sanju, it’s never Ganju’s fault, and always someone else’s.”
