Bollwood ban should’ve extended to all films that did not have me: Javed Sheikh

(Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction. Learn to take a joke; you’ll live longer.)

KARACHI – After featuring prominently in the cast of two of the four Pakistani film releases on Eid — 7 Din Mohabbat In (7DMI) and Wajood, the latter also being directed by him – veteran Javed Sheikh has lashed out at the Pakistani film industry, filmmakers, and filmgoers for not doing enough for his film.

Talking exclusively to The Dependent, Sheikh began with telling off the film industry, which the veteran actor felt is making the wrong product.

“I don’t think our film industry should be making any films – especially not any that don’t feature me,” he said. “What it also should not be making are excuses – unless of course they are made by me.”

Javed Sheikh maintained that everyone associated with the local film industry owed to him personally to watch films that he was involved in.

“Most of all the filmgoers, they should be able to tell which film has Javed Sheikh and which one does not,” he said.

Speaking of the ban on Bollyood films at the time of Eid, Sheikh said the move wasn’t insufficient and didn’t cater to all the challenges that were posed.

“Bollwood ban should’ve extended to all films that did not have me,” he said.
