Interior ministry ordered to submit report on MML’s registration till June 13

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday directed the interior ministry to submit full report till June 13 regarding the registration of Milli Muslim League (MML).

Earlier, during the hearing of MML registration case in ECP, officials of interior ministry could not present any material against MML.

During the hearing, MML counsel Rizwan Abbasi requested the ECP to ask interior ministry deputy secretary whether there are any new allegations on the representatives of MML or not. The deputy secretary replied that the interior ministry has nothing new against MML.

“We have contacted the law enforcement agencies in which only one department submitted the report and the interior ministry wrote a letter to ECP on the above report,” he added. Raja Rizwan Abbasi replied that there is nothing against representatives in the letter which is being referenced.

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has already completely rejected the letter containing the assumption of the interior ministry and every citizen of Pakistan has right to take part in politics and to make a political party, he said, adding that it is not good to obstruct any political party’s registration.

The interior ministry officials could not reply to the questions raised by MML’s counsel.

The case was adjourned till June 13.

Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, Justice (r) Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi, Justice (r) Irshad Qaisar and Justice (r) Shakeel Ahmad Baloch were also present.
