Farooq Sattar says parties spending huge money on election ads will influence polls

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar on Saturday claimed that political parties spending huge money on election ads will largely influence the polls.

Speaking to media outlets, he said that at least 10 million of the Karachi population was not shown in the final census in an attempt to dent the vote bank of the city.

He also accused the Pakistan People’s Party of disturbing the electoral atmosphere.

He claimed that elections would be influenced via money used by the aspiring candidates. He said if polls were held with this approach and unfairness, then its result won’t be called transparent.

“Sit-in will also be staged subsequently,” he warned.

Sattar said the moves to malign MQM should now end and that MQM was a single faction in the past and will remain the same in future.

The MQM leader also expressed his concerns over the caretaker government and alleged that the interim setup in the province was almost another side of the PPP.

He told the media that he was submitting nomination papers from NA 241, NA-245, and NA 247 putting a rest to rumours that MQM will not be contesting elections.

DEMANDS TO REOPEN PARTY OFFICES:

Farooq Sattar reiterated his demand of reopening party offices in the run-up to general elections.

Speaking to the media, he alleged that the party was not being provided space to contest elections. “MQM-P is not being given political freedom to contest the upcoming polls,” said Sattar.
