LONDON: Imran Khan’s close aide and businessman Zulfi Bukhari has instructed Sweetman Burke and Sinker, a West London law firm, to send a legal notice to Imran Khan’s former wife, Reham Khan, reported by a local media outlet.
Reham’s former husband Ijaz Rahman, Anila Khawaja and Wasim Akram also launched a joint claim against Imran Khan’s former wife pertaining to “defamatory and malicious” content in her autobiography.
Sweetman Burke and Sinker does not specialise in defamation cases.
William Bennett, the barrister that the firm has chosen, is considered as a specialist in libel cases but the cost for a single day could be between £7,500 to £10,000.
Reham Khan has so far not received the letter.
A limited time injunction against the book’s release could also be granted by the court.
The estimated cost of the case could range from £1.2 million to £1.5 million.
Reham could also claim that UK courts do not have jurisdiction over the matter if she has a Pakistani domicile.
She would have to spend an estimated £0.5 million to £0.7 million to defend herself in court.
