KARACHI: Shahrukh Jatoi was once again not presented before a judicial magistrate on Wednesday in a case pertaining to the convict’s attempt to flee the country in 2013.
According to the prison authorities due to the convict’s involvement in a sensitive case, the Interior Ministry had restricted his movement and therefore he could not be presented before the court.
Further, they upheld that they have written a letter to Sindh Home Department to conduct case hearings in the jail.
“However, we have not received a notification as yet from the Sindh Home Department on the request,” they added.
Subsequently, the judicial magistrate directed the Sindh Home Department to submit a report on the notification and Jatoi’s movement.
The hearing of the case has been adjourned till July 7.
On December 27, 2012, Shahrukh Jatoi had escaped abroad after murdering Shahzeb Khan. Later, he was arrested in 2013 at the airport.
A case was registered against the convict under different sections of Pakistan’s Passport Act and Penal Code.He was accused of having no Pakistani immigration details on his passport when he travelled to Dubai and according to prosecution for the case in the anti-terrorism court; the facts confirm that he travelled illegally without proper clearance from the immigration authorities.
In addition, Jatoi was also not registered as a passenger on the plane and boarded on someone else’s boarding pass.
