Ex-army official donates Rs5,000 in national exchequer ‘to pay off country’s huge debt’

ISLAMABAD: In a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, an ex-army official Naek Muhammad Aslam had contributed Rs5,000 to the Government Treasury in order to pay off the country’s debt.

According to a press release issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Naek, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin, had requested for the amount to be deposited in the national exchequer, which would be “a contribution from his side as a citizen of the country to help pay off its huge debts”.

Moreover, the public relations officer for the Supreme Court stated that this “reflects the confidence of the nation on the institution of the judiciary and on the Hon’ble CJP Mian Saqib Nisar”.

However, under the mandate of the institution, the amount contributed by Naek could not be accepted.

Thus, the money has been returned to the ex-army official with an appreciation of the gesture.
