Landlords shoot dead labourer’s son

TOBA TEK SINGH: A labourer’s son was killed by landlords in Gojra on Wednesday.

A police official revealed that accused, Shada and Qamar, had made the life of Muhammad Ameen’s family, including the women, miserable due to an ongoing dispute.

He added the suspects allegedly beat up Ameen’s family, including women, on multiple occasions, due to which they resorted to protests thrice on several occasions and also blocked the traffic. However, their pleas fell on deaf ears and the suspects continued to harass the family without any fear.

However, on the day of the incident, accused Shada and Qamar opened fire on Amin’s only son Muhammad Khalid Amin near Kabutar Nawala Graveyard, gravely injuring him.

The injured man was rushed to the Civil Hospital Faisalabad from where he was referred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad owing to the serious condition. But the victim expired before reaching the hospital.

This sparked outrage among the residents who protested against the suspects and police and shouted slogans against them. They also set the tires on fire and blocked the roads. The demonstrators included men, women and children.

The protesters blamed the police of not taking action against the culprits. They alleged that if the police had taken action against the suspects, the victim’s life could have been saved.

Meanwhile, Toba Tek Singh DPO took notice of the incident and ordered the police to register a case and arrest the accused.
