‘Yanny’ or ‘Laurel’: Celebrities give their two cents on the audio that is splitting the internet in half

Around the same time in 2015, there was a picture of the dress that took the internet by storm. The debate over whether the dress is ‘gold and white’ or ‘blue and black’ had reached a point where one started questioning his/her sanity.

Now, a recording that surfaced yesterday is tearing the internet apart.

A short audio clip of a computer-generated voice that first appeared on Reddit, seems to be saying one word – but whether that word is ‘Yanny’ or ‘Laurel’ is the source of furious disagreement.

On Tuesday, Cloe Feldman, a social media influencer and vlogger, posted a question on her Instagram story, which she then cross-posted to Twitter: “What do you hear? Yanny or Laurel,” accompanied by a recording of a computerized voice, now what it is saying, we will leave it up to you to decide, because this recording has stirred a debate across the internet.

People on the internet have created a fiasco on whether they hear, ‘Laurel’, ‘Yanny’ or both. If it was up to us to decide, we’d say we hear ‘Yanny’.

According to a theory put forward on social media by the users, what you hear depends on the amount of bass that’s being produced from the device you’re listening on. Although if you adjust the frequency you can hear ‘Laurel’, although that wasn’t the case for us.

And then Twitter went crazy.

Here are your favourite celebrities participating in the crazy debate.

Do you hear ‘Yanny’, ‘Laurel’ or both? Let us know.
