Meesha Shafi to move to Canada permanently?

Following the huge controversy in which singer Meesha Shafi accused colleague and singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment, reports have surfaced on social media that  Meesha Shafi plans to permanently move to Canada with her husband, Mahmood Rahman and two children.

According to numerous Instagram and Twitter handles, Meesha Shafi deleted her official Facebook and Instagram account accounts and plans to relocate to Canada following the ugly fallout after she made publically alleged Ali Zafar of sexually harassing her.

Twitter user Danish Amir stated, “According to reports Meesha Shafi along with her husband and two children is permanently moving to Canada. Previously, she also has deactivated her official Facebook and Instagram accounts”.

Similarly, Metronome, a Twitter account with over 4000 followers stated,”According to reports, Meesha Shafi, along with her husband and two children is permanently moving to Canada. She also has deactivated her official Facebook and Instagram accounts. Whatever the case, wishing best of luck and future to her”.

Another Instagram user stated, “Meesha Shafi, with her husband and two children is moving to Canada after deactivating her official Facebook and Instagram accounts”.

Earlier, Meesha Shafi had accused colleague and singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.

Meesha alleged that Zafar had harassed her on “more than one occasion,” adding that, “These incidences did not happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”

On the other hand, Ali Zafar categorically denied all claims of harassment lodged against him by Meesha. He said, “I categorically deny any and all claims of harassment lodged against me by Ms Shafi.”

The Dear Zindagi star has revealed his intentions of taking to matter to court in order to “address this professionally and seriously rather than to lodge any allegations”. He accused Meesha of disrespecting the #MeeToo campaign by “contesting personal vendettas on social media”.

“Ultimately I am a strong believer that the truth always prevails,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Ali Zafar also sent a legal notice of Rs 100 million to Meesha Shafi.

According to the notice, a defamation suit would be filed against Meesha upon her failure to issue an apology to Ali on the electronic media within two weeks.
