KARACHI: Pak-Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairman Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court challenging the results of the census and seeking an increase in the number of constituencies.
The PSP chief submitted in his petition that as per National Database and Registration Authority, the population of Karachi is 2.15 billion but, in the census, it was counted as 1.6 billion. He said the fair number of Karachiites were deliberately undercounted in the census, terming this act as discriminatory for the people of Karachi.

Naming federal authorities, NADRA chairman and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics as the respondents, Kamal requested the court to fix irregularities of the census. The court was further requested to order an increase in the number seats for the national and provincial assemblies in Karachi.
