AWAIS LEGHARI PRAISES CM FOR UNPRECEDENTED DEVELOPMENT IN SOUTH PUNJAB:

Separately, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab CM Shehbaz said that the pace of development and prosperity would be further accelerated in southern Punjab and added that the government had returned the southern districts their rights by giving them more resources as compared to their population.

Speaking during a meeting with Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari who called on him here, Shehbaz said, “In every development programme, southern Punjab has been given ten per cent additional quota.” He further said that girl students’ monthly stipend had been increased to Rs1,000 per month in public sector schools of southern Punjab.

The chief minister lamented that past governments used southern Punjab province as a slogan while on the other hand, the PML-N got resolutions approved from the Punjab Assembly for the establishment of southern Punjab province and restoration of the defunct province of Bahawalpur.

“No other political party could dare to get resolutions approved for the restoration of Bahawalpur as a province and establishment of the southern Punjab province,” he said.

Shehbaz said that he served the people of southern Punjab during the worst floods of 2010 along with the elected representatives while the past rulers badly ignored the people of southern Punjab in their respective tenures. “The past rulers did not solve the problems of southern Punjab, while we utilised resources worth billions of rupees for the construction and restoration of roads in rural areas and thousands of kilometers long carpeted roads had also been constructed in southern Punjab,” he said.

In fact, said the chief minister, the steps taken by the incumbent government for the development and prosperity of southern Punjab had never been taken in the seventy-year-long history of the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Awais Leghari said that resources to the tune of billions of rupees had been provided for the prosperity of people of southern Punjab districts and innumerable development work had been carried out to improve the quality of life of the people living there.

“Due to the tremendous development work carried out under the supervision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the PML-N’s vote bank has been increased in southern Punjab. Your (Shehbaz’s) vision and hard work for solving the problems of southern Punjab is not dubious to anyone and unprecedented development work has been carried out in different cities and villages of southern Punjab during the tenure of PML-N,” he concluded.
