Sukkur woman set on fire for attending wedding without husband’s permission

A woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband in Sukkur’s New Pind area, a private media outlet reported Thursday.

According to the police, the woman had attended a wedding function at her uncle’s residence against her husband’s will, and the accused had “also suspected her of being unfaithful to him”.

The husband, losing his temper during a domestic fight, reportedly doused his wife with petrol and set her ablaze.

The local police reached the site of the incident soon after and rushed the woman to Civil Hospital Sukkur.

While the woman is under treatment at the said hospital, doctors say she has burns on 99 per cent of her body.

Meanwhile, the husband and his accomplice were arrested by the police.
