Mayor waits for Karachi package

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar paid a visit to Malir-15 and N-5 projects to review the progress of the development work and to inaugurate the recently completed ramp of Malir-15 flyover towards Azeempura.

He was accompanied by Korangi District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Chairman Syed Nayyar Raza, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Council Committee for Katachi Abadies Chairman Saad Bin Jaffer and other officers and elected representatives.

The mayor unveiled the plaque of the project and met with the people of the area. He also inspected the construction work of the N-5 project and gave directives to the concerned officers.

While talking to the media, he said that millions of people in Azeempura and adjacent localities would be benefit from the ramp of Malir-15 flyover as it would reduce the time consumed in travelling.

He said that the remaining development work of the N-5 project would also be completed soon with the installation of two pedestrian bridges for the convenience of the people.

Akhtar said he was waiting for the Karachi package and hoped that the city would get its right and the problems of its citizens would be resolved.

He said that the ramp has been completed at a cost of Rs 9.5 billion. Akhtar said that the project had to be completed in time so that the citizens could be saved from inconveniences and traffic problems.

He also said that sanitation and leakage from water and sewerage lines was an old issue in Karachi and various areas of the city were suffering due to this. The duty of removing waste from the city had been assigned to the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) and its performance was before everyone, he added.

The Karachi mayor said there was a need to take positive and concrete measures to make Karachi a clean and green city.
