NAUDERO: An agreement was reached by the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Tuesday night to not accept ‘engineered’ general elections.
This was decided in a meeting that was presided over by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Naudero.
Senior PPP leaders Khursheed Shah, Nafeesa Shah, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Sherry Rehman along with Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari were also present at the meeting.
PPP leader Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, while addressing the media after the CEC meeting, said that the PPP will not accept engineered elections.
He said that the party had agreed that general elections will be held on time and that the elections in 1997 were also engineered.
Bokhari complained that banned outfits were still taking part in politics albeit with different names.
He said that the PPP leaders condemned the terrorist attacks in Quetta as well as Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Sindh government’s efforts in the areas of health and education sectors were hailed in the meeting along with all those personalities who have played an integral role in strengthening democracy in Pakistan.
On Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, he said that the ruling government is undergoing confusion. “Nawaz and PML-N have always hatched conspiracies,” he added.
