- Pakistan urged to raise voice against killing of Kashmiris at UN to help stop fresh wave of genocide
ISLAMABAD: Protest demonstrators on Monday condemned in strong terms the cold-blooded murder of 20 Kashmiri youth by Indian forces during a single day on Sunday in Shopian district, besides injuring hundreds of others and damaging property of millions of rupees in the Indian-held Kashmir (IHK).
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference had organised the protest demonstration in front of the National Press Club to condemn this act of violence against Kashmiris. Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, People’s Party president Latif Akbar, senior APHC leaders and members from civil society also attended the protest.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Farooq Haider said that India with a well-planned strategy was killing new generation of Kashmiris. However, he expressed resolve that India’s nefarious designs to suppress Kashmiris would be frustrated. He urged Pakistan to raise its voice against killing of Kashmiris at the UN through its envoys to help stop this fresh wave of genocide.
The Kashmiri prime minister underlined the need for resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN resolutions to put an end to the decades-long issue and bring relief into the lives of Kashmiris. He expressed support for freedom struggle of Kashmiri people, adding that Kashmiris of both the sides of the Line of Control were united to take the struggle to its logical end.
Speaking on the occasion, APHC Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi while lamenting the death of 20 youth in Shopian said that India had crossed all limits of morality and humanity. Due to the use of pellet guns, Indian forces have blinded and injured thousands of Kashmiris, besides arresting others under the black laws, speakers said while speaking on the occasion.
They said that India had not only given licences to its forces to kill Kashmiris, but was also proving its forces innocent by giving them protection under the black laws. The speakers expressed shock over the killing of 20 youth in Shopian district, which had sadden all the nation.
They were of the view that India through its forces was not only indulging in genocide of Kashmirs but was also molesting women. However, they said that India failed to suppress voice of Kashmiris for freedom despite all these odds and oppression by the Indian forces.
They said that Kashmiris were determined to carry forward their struggle against Indian occupation and for right to self-determination, come what may. They said that they had pledged that they would not let the blood of martyrs go waste.
