No comparison between Punjab, KP govts: spokesman

LAHORE: Spokesperson of the Punjab Government Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said that there was no comparison between the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab in terms of transparency in development schemes.

Addressing a press conference here, the spokesman said that during the current fiscal year, Punjab was able to save an amount of Rs275 million in purchasing of 37 medicines while the KP government, on the other hand, did not only procure medicines on higher rates but the companies under contract were also of low ranking.

Naming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief “Khipal Khan” (a talkative character of British novelist George Meredith), Ahmed said Imran Khan was only used to talking and never could complete any development projects.

“On one hand is Imran Khan who has a habit of telling lies, while on the other is Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif whose politics are based on public service,” he said.

The spokesman also said that after criticising the metro bus and metro train projects, the KP and Sindh governments were now following Punjab. “I ask if the metro bus project was not necessary, then why has the KP government now launched the same project in Peshawar and why is the Sindh chief minister trying to convince the Chinese government to include the Karachi metro train to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),” he added.

“Imran Khan claims that no hospital was constructed during the current tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led Punjab government, but the truth is that 17 new hospitals including the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) have been completed since 2013,” said the spokesman.
