‘Home Fire’ by Kamila Shamsie long listed for Women’s Prize for Fiction 2018

Out of the 16 books which have made it to the Women’s Prize For Fiction longlist, Kamila Shamsie’s book Home Fire is one of them.

The Pakistani writer’s seventh novel Home Fire is a contemporary re-imagining of the Greek tragedy Antigone.

Other contenders in the list include Arundhati Roy who has been nominated for her book The Ministry of Utmost Happiness.

The Women’s Prize For Fiction is the UK’s most prestigious annual book award for fiction written by a woman. The list, which was announced on International Women’s Day Thursday, “honours both new and well-established writers and a range of genres, spanning four continents and including six debut novels.”

The shortlist for the award will be announced on April 23.

Last year, Kamila Shamsie was longlisted for The Man Booker Prize.
