Summary for regularisation of dengue workers sent to CM: minister

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir on Saturday said that the health department was proud of the dengue workers and they would soon hear good news from the government as it had sent a summary for the workers’ regularisation to the Punjab chief minister.

Addressing the 27th CEO Conference, the minister also said that the summary would soon be approved.

“In the second health week, more than 900,000 people were screened across the province which is more than our target,” he said and appreciated the performance of the health officials.

Kh Imran Nazir said that primary and secondary healthcare department ensured modern and quality facilities in health centres across the province.

“For the first time in the history of Punjab, 21 BHUs of Lahore, Kasur, Vehari, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Hafizabad, Lodhran and Pakpattan have qualified to obtain the Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) license,” he said and added everyone all the time needed to be ready in a bid to control the epidemic.

He said that cases of measles and typhoid had recently surfaced in Sindh and KP, and so the officers should already take precautionary measures in Punjab. He also directed the CEOs to specially monitor chickenpox, measles and typhoid in their respective districts.

PSHD secretary, special secretary, additional secretaries, health services director general, project directors and CEOs from 36 districts of Punjab attended the meeting.

Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan lauded the officers for making the Second Health Week a success, and urged them to continue working in future with the same enthusiasm.

Health Services DG Dr Akhter Rasheed briefed the participants on the monitoring and evaluation of health facilities, while project directors briefed the CEOs on their projects.
