11 street criminals among 21 apprehended

KARACHI: Police on Friday claimed to have apprehended 21 alleged criminals, including 11 street criminals, from different parts of the metropolis during the last 24 hours.

According to police sources, during a crackdown on drug peddlers, police carried out raids in Preedy, Saeedabad, Quaidabad, Sohrab Goth, Korangi, Aziz Bhatti, Samanabad and  Docks areas, and apprehended eight drug peddlers. The police also claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of hashish, wine, Gutka from their possession.

Police source said a gang of three robbers were fleeing after looting and injuring a citizen, Shahzad Sharif, near football ground in Saeedabad area when a patrolling police team reached the scene. The robbers opened fire on the police team which was retaliated by the police.

During the exchange of fire, a robber sustained bullet injuries, while two of his accomplices fled the scene.

The police have recovered a TT pistol, bullets, 5000 cash and a motorbike from his possession.

Steel Town Police, on a tip-off, about the smuggling of huge quantity of Iranian diesel began to check an oil tanker during which 25,000 liters of Iranian diesel was recovered. The police said diesel was concealed into the specially designed hidden cavities of the oil tanker. The police arrested two smugglers from the spot.

Special Investigation Unit’s (SIU) police party nabbed six street criminals and recovered six TT Pistols with bullets and mobile phones from them.

Meanwhile, Gulistan-e-Jauhar police arrested four robbers during a shop robbery in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-11 and recovered three TT Pistols with magazine 11 round, five snatched cell phones, and two motorcycles from their possession.

The police have registered FIRs against detainees and started further investigation.
