Tahaffuz-e-Sehat camps being established in 725 health facilities: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare (P&SH) Khawaja Imran Nazir said Sunday that Tahaffuz-e-Sehat camps are being established in 725 health facilities across the province.

He said that 800,000 people would be screened in six days, starting from February 19 to 24.

He expressed these views while addressing the special meeting on arrangements of the ‘2nd Health Week’ here on Sunday. Primary and Secondary Health Care Department (PSHD) secretary and other health officials attended the meeting.

Nazir said on the occasion that the purpose of celebrating the health week was to provide free of cost medicines and test facilities to the public.

He said the Punjab government was providing free test and screening of hepatitis B, C, tuberculosis, acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and diabetes. He said that the government was committed to providing free health facilities to the people at their doorsteps. He requested the citizens that they should benefit from free test facility by visiting the camps in order to protect their health.

The minister further said that the PSHD was providing free medicine worth Rs 12 billion to hepatitis B, C, TB and AIDS patients.

Nazir directed the officials concerned to make every possible effort to make the health week successful. He said that he would accompany Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan on visits to various districts to monitor activities being held in connection with the health week.

While addressing the meeting, Jan Khan said that the health department had provided logistics, medicines and vaccinations to all districts of the province to make the event successful. He said that the department would not tolerate any kind of negligence.
