TAUNSA SHARIF: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif is politicking to gain popularity and to win public sympathy.
“Nawaz is pretending to be oppressed in front of the nation whereas whenever he appears in court, six vehicles of protocol lead him and six vehicles follow him but he still thinks he is oppressed. What kind of oppression is this?” questioned Zardari while addressing a gathering.
“The government is theirs, chief minister is theirs, prime minister is theirs but they still consider themselves oppressed,” he said, adding that people who are brought to courts in armoured vehicles are oppressed.
He said that PPP has always confronted cases during their term of government. “In my cases, dictations of Saifur Rahman were followed,” he added.
The PPP leader said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) inaugurates only those projects that neither have a start nor end, adding that the ruling party does not understand the actual worth of CPEC.
He said that PML-N only gives funds to its own MNAs because of its narrow-mindedness and that the budget of Chauhdry Nisar was more than of his own MNAs.
He said that only PPP can bring back the looted money transferred outside through money laundering. He demanded that case of Shehbaz Sharif in which he spoke with the judge should also be opened.
He said that efforts were underway to include Zulfiqar Khosa in PPP, adding that he hoped the general elections would be held on time.
Zardari pointed out that there is a huge difference between Nehru’s India and the one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I can’t find secularism in Modi’s India,” he stated.
He concluded by thanking the attendees for showing solidarity with the Model Town incident victims and promised to get justice for the families of the deceased victims.
