NAB chief for strict action against illegal housing societies in twin cities

ISLAMABAD: Seeking explanation from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Friday has questioned how illegal housing societies came into existence in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The NAB chief while directing the concerned authorities to submit the details of private housing societies in the twin cities while also publishing the facts on their websites and various newspapers, asked how no-objection certificates (NOCs) and layout plans were issued to the illegal societies without following proper rules and regulations.

Due to the negligence of the concerned departments, the corrupt elements collected hard earned money from the people and in return, no plots were allotted to them, said Iqbal.

He also directed to present a detailed report in this regard so that the accountability bureau could ensure bringing the money back to people by taking a strict legal action against the corrupt.

According to reports, 15 wanted suspects have been arrested by NAB, whereas millions of rupees trapped in illegal housing societies have been returned to the people within the last three months.
