KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control (ET&NC) Mukesh Kumar Chawla said on Monday that the department has collected Rs29222.810 million in taxes under various heads during the current fiscal year from July 2017 to December 2017.
He said that Rs26742.961 million worth taxes were recovered during the last fiscal year. ET&NC Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting. DG ET&NC informed that Rs3142.087 million were recovered from the motor vehicle tax, Rs22102.418 million in infrastructure tax, Rs230.057 million in professional tax, Rs150.385 million in cotton fee while Rs1242.418 million were in the property tax.
Chawla asked the officers to improve their performance and achieve their tax targets. He also asked the secretary ET&NC to take action against those officers who had shown lethargic attitude and poor performance in the collection of taxes and monitor their performance on a regular basis; however, he appreciated those officers who had done well.
On the occasion, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui briefed the provincial minister regarding officers’ performance and tax targets.
