PML-N committee to arrive in Quetta, appease disgruntled Balochistan MPAs

QUETTA: After forming a committee to keep its coalition government in Balochistan intact, the central leadership of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is expected to arrive in Quetta on Thursday to address grievances of the disgruntled lawmakers.

The committee, headed by PML-N senator Raja Zafarul Haq and comprising Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafique, has been tasked by party president Nawaz Sharif to convince the Member Provincial Assembly (MPAs), ministers, and advisors from ditching the provincial government.

At least two ministers have tendered their resignations to Balochistan Governor and the Chief Minister.

Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Minister of Fisheries Mir Chakar Domki had submitted their resignations to the governor and chief minister respectively.

The embattled Balochistan government suffered another blow on Wednesday when the provincial chief minister’s advisor Prince Ahmed Ali Ahmedzai submitted his resignation to the governor.

The motion of no trust against Zehri has been submitted under Article 136 of the Constitution.

MPA Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has moved the motion against Zehri for allegedly failing to resolve the issues the province is facing.

Mr Bizenjo told the media that the provincial government has been failed to address their reservations with regard to the previous provincial budget.

The chief minister was not serious about resolving the issues, and this is the reason they have moved the motion of no confidence against him, Bizenjo said.

According to officials, the speaker Balochistan assembly has summoned the assembly session on Jan 9.

On the other hand, the coalition partners have pledged to support the chief minister.
