SHC CJ expresses anger over lack of action in recovery of missing persons

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh on Monday expressed anger over lack of action for recovery of missing persons, while issuing notices to the Interior Ministry, Rangers director general and Sindh Police inspector general.

The court is hearing the petitions of families seeking recovery of their dear ones who have gone missing within a short span of just few days.

The court has also directed the relevant authorities to prepare a report on the matter.

At an earlier hearing, the SHC had also issued notices to the Sindh government, Sindh home department, Sindh inspector general of police (IGP), Rangers director general and others.

It may be mentioned here that the incidents of civilians gone suddenly missing has picked up the pace once again in recent weeks.

On November 2, 2017, a divisional bench of SHC, expressing anger at the failure of the police to recover the missing persons, had summoned head of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing missing persons’ case.
