Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Dr Asim Hussain’s name has been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL), according to an Interior Ministry notification issued on Thursday.
However, Dr Asim is already out of the country for medical reasons as he was allowed to leave the country on the directives of the apex court. Hussain is reportedly in Dubai and will be returning to Pakistan soon.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had in its order dated August 29, 2017, and later in November directed the interior ministry to remove the PPP leader from the ECL.
In light of the Supreme Court’s August and November orders and the ministry’s subsequent assurance to the apex court, the notification was issued.
