US President Donald J Trump has won an election despite losing the popular vote.
Despite getting a total of approximately 4.66 per cent of the popular vote, as opposed to his rivals getting more than 66.3 percent of the popular vote, the Trump administration has emerged successful in the recently held polls.
The reason Trump still managed to ensure a victory lies in an archaic law that was around since the foundation of the electoral college. Throughout the years, the law has been criticised many times but is now way too entrenched in the system to change.
“Yes, I know it’s flawed, but hey, it’s the only system we have and we have to make it work,” said Francois Delattre, the French Ambassador to the UN. “Trust me, it hurts. We voted for the resolution as well.”
The US President is expected to start meeting with all the ambassadors of the opposing countries in Washington DC, reminding them that he has won.
